The Student Futures Index is an annual study of the transition into adult life.

The strategy team at We Are Futures, together with Dig In, have created the Student Futures Index to understand how university students are navigating the decisions, pressures and opportunities shaping their lives in 2026.

Drawing on responses from 1,086 students across the UK, the research reveals a shift in what matters most as young people prepare for life beyond university. Against a backdrop of rising living costs, rapid technological change and an unpredictable jobs market, students are increasingly focused on building strong foundations for their future, from managing their money to protecting their mental and physical health.
